Ants are wonderful creatures. Their habits have earned them a place in folklore and myth wherever they are found. Ants have been used to illustrate the virtue of being industrious and cooperative. Or as an example of a ruthless heirarchy in which conformity and devotion to duty supplants freedom. Some like to watch them fight, others obtain a queen and enjoy watching them thrive as a complete organism.

The best way to watch ants is between two sheets of glass spaced so you can see into their tunnels. There are designs on the internet so you can build your own ant farm. These are cool, but they look, well, home-made. There have always been a number of commonly available ant habitats, like Uncle Milton's Ant Farms®.
