The base of the Formicarium measures 23" by 5", and the height, counting the brass knob, is a little more than 14". The sheets of glass are 12" by 18", and may be taken out for cleaning by removing the two brass screws on top.

Wooden pegs on the bottom of the access lid hold it securely in place. The access port is big enough to allow sand or soil to be added, and for regular feeding and watering of the ants. The cover fits tightly enough to keep ants from escaping, but still allows air to infiltrate. The knob is brass, and can be easily changed to match your decor.
